There needs to be a play group that meets on some day like Saturdays, and doesn't care about politics and what people play. We need a place where we aren't interrupted by drafters or Red asking for our change.

Q: "When 'cantrips' originally came out (in the Ice Age Block) they had you draw a card on the next upkeep. Then cards came out allowing you to draw a card as soon as the spell resolved and people were still calling them 'cantrips', although they are very different (in my opinion). What went into the decision to change how cantrips work?"

"Hi Dave,

"Many people think cantrips changed to make it less likely that you forget to draw your card, and then ask four turns later if you could draw that forgotten card. The real reason was that at the time we were considering removing the upkeep phase from the game, and therefore needed to remove the reference to upkeep from cantrips. Our polling at the time revealed these statistics:
Favorite Phase in Magic (1000 players polled)
301 Second Main Phase
223 Combat Phase
212 Discard/Cleanup Phase
99 Draw Phase
71 Untap Phase
56 No Answer
37 First Main Phase
1 Upkeep

"In spite of these numbers we decided not to remove upkeep from Magic, at the time, but knew we would eventually have to. It is unlikely that upkeep will still be a part of Magic by early 2007.

Keywords
Why do the cards read "Hellbent - [this] gains [ability] as long as you have no cards in your hand." Isn't that what hellbent means?!!! Why don't they just read "Hellbent - [This] gains [ability]" or simply cut the word Hellbent? What's the point of saying something that's already implied? At the very least the "only if you have no cards in your hand" should be put in reminder text. What is WoTC thinking? UGH!

Which Markmark is the most powerful?
Are there any creatures that would work better in a magemark deck than others?
Barring the obvious rancor and armadillo cloak, what other enchant creatures would would well in a magemark deck?

I'd just like to complain about...
How is it that in a set where red and green are paired together there no mana or land acceleration cards? Seriously, the color wheel has red as the fast mana color and green as the land grow color. We have them put together in a set and the only thing we get is WILD CANTOR!!! What the hell?!

hi
i just stumbled onto this community. it seems kinda neat. ive been a casual player for awhile now but im always looking for new people to play with. i have a few lame type two decks (glimpse, golgari, ghazi glaze, and really bad boros) and a ton of fun not necasarrily legal decks (kitties, goblins a couple elf and many more). well anyways just thought id say hi and if anyone is looking for anything in rav i have more than a playset of just about anycard outside of char(see shock lands). so yah umm hoowdy.

Reminisce
I was looking at decks and I came across this one that was made around Sol'kanar the Swamp King. The deck description reads, "As the Swamp King, Sol'Kanar needs, well, swamps. He also needs a throne, a scepter, and a crown. So there ya go!"

To me, that's just hilarious. I mean look at the deck list. I remember playing joke decks like that. What happened to those good old days when we used to take magic lightly? I hate escalation. Speaking of which, we really need to get a private group going, guys. ...or get Jerry to let me play in his. But in all seriousiness, don't you guys miss actually playing Magic for fun? You know we can change the sitution. Let's do something about the way we play. Come on!

Broken cards
Has anyone found a broken card in Ravinca?

I think Putrify is annoying, but not nessacarily broken.

I guess I haven't seen anything besides kinda cool stuff out of Ravinca so far.

Nothing as crazy as Jitte for sure.

Enchantment.

When Chaos Flux comes into play, each player removes his or her hand, all permanents he/she controls, and his or her graveyard from the game face down, then draws 7 cards.

When Chaos Flux leaves play, each player removes all permanent he/she controls, his or her hand, and his or her graveyard form the game, then returns all permanents previously removed from the game to play.



A bit confusing...but I think the idea is clear enough.
